A family of Italian volunteers united by one belief: that every child, regardless of ability or circumstance, deserves a boundless smile. Since our founding, we have crossed borders, built friendships, and changed lives.
How it all began
A small group of volunteers from Borgomanero, Italy, came together around a shared dream: to make a tangible difference in the lives of children with special needs in post-war Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Our first humanitarian camp in Bosnia was a revelation — twelve volunteers, dozens of children, and a week that changed everyone. We returned home knowing this would be a lifelong commitment.
The organization grew organically. Theater productions in Italy began raising funds and awareness. Partnerships with local Bosnian institutions deepened our impact and trust within communities.
More than a decade on, Boundless Smile continues annual missions, delivers medical supplies, and has touched the lives of over 200 children. Our community of volunteers and supporters spans all of Italy — and beyond.
Boundless Smile was born from a simple act of empathy. Our founders saw children in Bosnia and Herzegovina — many living with disabilities, in families still rebuilding after the war — and refused to look away.
What began as one small camp has grown into a full nonprofit organization. We operate from Borgomanero, in the Piedmont region of northern Italy, but our hearts — and our work — are anchored just as firmly in Bosnia.
Every summer, our volunteers make the journey east. They play with children, sit with families, deliver supplies, and listen. They build something rarer than any donation: genuine human connection across cultures, languages, and borders.

We do this through annual humanitarian camps, the delivery of medical supplies, educational support, and by fostering deep, lasting relationships between Italian volunteers and Bosnian families — creating a community that transcends borders.

We lead with our hearts. Every decision we make — from program design to volunteer training — is grounded in genuine empathy for the children and families we serve.

Geographic focus
Our work lives in two countries, connected by one mission. We operate on both sides of the Adriatic — raising funds and awareness in Italy, and delivering care on the ground in Bosnia.
Our main field of operations. We work with children and families across Bosnia, primarily through our annual summer humanitarian camps and ongoing medical supply deliveries to partner institutions.
Our roots. Based in Borgomanero, Piedmont, Italy — this is where we organize, fundraise, recruit volunteers, and perform our theater productions that bring our mission to life for Italian audiences.
The people
Our team is made up of passionate volunteers, dedicated coordinators, and big-hearted humans who believe in the power of showing up.
Founder & President
Maria founded Boundless Smile after her first trip to Bosnia in 2012. Her vision and tireless dedication have shaped every aspect of the organization.
Field Coordinator
Giovanni has led every humanitarian camp since 2014. His logistics expertise and warm rapport with Bosnian families make each mission possible.
Theater Director
Sara directs our fundraising theater productions in Italy. Her creative storytelling has raised thousands of euros and brought hundreds of new supporters to our cause.
Medical Liaison
A pediatric nurse by training, Alessandro coordinates all medical supply donations and ensures they reach the families and institutions who need them most.
We are always looking for passionate volunteers, skilled professionals, and dedicated people who want to make a real difference. No experience required — just a big heart.
